Politics: A brutal business.

From today’s Times of London, a reminder of just how brutal and unforgiving politics can be. It seems former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and current UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak buried the hatchet long enough to appear at the same late-night campaign. However, no handshake and not on the stage at the same time.

Every political speech comes equipped with built-in opportunities for the crowd to demonstrate their love and enthusiasm for the speaker. So it was no surprise when the audience erupted into chants of “Boris Boris Boris”.

Unfortunately, efforts by the current Prime Minister’s staff to launch similar displays of adulation for their boss fell conspicuously flat.

It seems like the die is cast an the results are a foregone conclusion. UK voters head to the polls Thursday, July 4.
